Thanks for the Turkey

What do turkeys have to be thankful for
First considered for national bird
They became the national feast
They are ugly as sin
Though they taste like heaven
God forgot to give them smarts
This becomes obvious when they are caught in the rain
Mouth open, staring at the sky
Not knowing enough to come in from the storm
There they stand until they drown
