What Price?

Midnight winds
Echoed sorrow
In a silent forest
Branches fall
Through empty holes
In repressed anger
A ladder breaks
A rope undone
Wails and moans
When no ones home
To see him die
From neglect
Just a boy
Who knew no love
Who struggled, fought
Who was never bought
Who cashed in his chips
When he knew
The ones who care
Are far and few
The ones who love
Do not exist
Except in
Fairytales, nightmares
And unrequited dreams
